Sometimes......

I just look at my kiddos and am blown away by how blessed I am. I saw this picture of Logan that his best friends took today. Look how happy and precious he is....... I think I'm going to have to knock girls off him with a stick!

Some good news from Guatemala....

This is a portion of an email I received from a very reliable source in Guatemala...

Hi Lou,DOS statement has been created a kind of caos. Emails have been flying everywhere. Here in Guatemala we have concluded that this a kind of a sinister plot. We think there are people from UNICEF who are behind this plot. They have always been saying bad things about adoptions here in Guatemala. They have been trying to influence the President's wife and now they are trying to influence the DOS. They have been throwing bad rumors on adoptions for around 20 years.Up to now the President has said nothing nor the newspapers and as we told you, he does not have the power to stop adoptions just like that. It is unconstitutional. We've been told by some members of the Joint Council they are creating a big campaign to clarify these rumors or to take some action if they are true. They have planned a schedule of important issues to discuss with all the parts involved. They will help a lot. We know all of this stuff is not true so we should keep faith. We hope everything will continue as normal.

Let's make some noise to get children HOME!

Yesterday our DOS issued a very severe warning. Basically it says if you're in the process of adopting from Guatemala and you're not done by December 31st you're ON YOUR OWN. Are you kidding me?????? OUR country has been applying pressure to Guatemala to implement the Hague when, from my understanding, OUR country won't be Hague compliant until spring of 2008!!!! OUR country has still been issuing 171h's for Guatemala and accepting that fee! OUR country claims to have the best interests of the children at heart. Do they think denying these children families is in their best interests????? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? What happened to all our ELECTED government officials standing up for their constituants??? I tell you what: I am not a very political person, but I am going to start calling EVERYONE I can call until we get JUSTICE for these families and children. We can't just sit here and hope that this doesn't happen. We all have to use our voices and DEMAND that OUR government fights for those families already in process with their adoptions. You can't say one day, "Yes, we will issue you clearance to adopt from Guatemala" and the next day say, "Oh, you're adopting from Guatemala? Sorry, we can't help you." We are the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and we can do better than this.......

Go read Cheri's blog. She has suggestions for actions we can take. Those of us who have already brought our children home could be in the EXACT same situation. Our timing was just different. We have to use our voices to help bring these children home.

What's in a name????

For those of you wondering, Tennie sounds like Jenny with a T........

I appreciate those of you who have voted for a name for our next baby. Cameo asked me if I was keeping anything from you all, and the answer is NO. We do plan on starting the process in the next few months, and hopefully we will be accepting a new referral about a year from now. Anne Pearce was named for YEARS before we even started the paperwork. A name is a promise that we will add another precious angel to our family, so we have already started discussing what we will name her. I personally love Delilah, but Andrew and Natalie have both said NO to it.... Tennie and Tillie are my favorites, and I will explain why. Anne Pearce is named for my mom and her grandmother who was the first Anne Pearce. Tennie is my other great-grandmother's name. My mama had a baby that died right after she was born a little over a year before I made my grand entrace into the world. Her name was Tennie Kathryn..... I LOVED my g.grandmother, Tennie, and I think it would be a wonderful remembrance for my sister who never got the chance at life. Mathilda (Tillie) was the first Anne Pearce's mother. Both these names have family significance. I think that's something my girls will appreciate as they grow older and learn more about our family. Either name is wonderful.......We are leaning towards Tennie even though it's getting the least number of votes!!! Can't you all hear me calling "Anne Pearce.......Tennie........."? What do you think????? Leave me a comment and VOTE!!!!
